An absolute treat - the kind of book that reminds me exactly why I love a romcom. The fast-paced world of political campaigning was the perfect backdrop for two characters who have no trouble keeping up with each other - Anya and Gabe's sparring was the stuff of legend. As soon as I picked it up I knew I wouldn't be putting it back down. Sharp, witty and full of heart. I loved it!
A promising candidate for best contemporary romance of the year. Stayman-London's latest makes excellent use of the inherent tension thrumming through the political world...but what really fuels the story is the skillfully crafted enemies-to-lovers dynamic that slowly unfolds.... Despite the speedy narrative, there's no insta-romance here; both characters experience meaningful growth as well as painful losses over the course of the story, and the happily-ever-after is a hard-earned triumph. And though Stayman-London, a political strategist herself, is honest about the dirtier aspects of campaigning, the book can still serve as a distraction from the news, and readers longing for a simpler time in American politics will find it here.
