Written in plain, jargon-free language this book provides a comprehensive introduction to counselling for those who have suffered child sex abuse. The author first explains the basic elements of the programme – its structure, progression, reasoning, time-scale and philosophy – before discussing the unique issues and problems associated with childhood sexual abuse that are likely to arise over the course of the programme. The theoretical discussion is illustrated with case studies and practical examples throughout and the appendix provides further information and insights, including examples of poetry by adult survivors.

Reviews
The book is a serious attempt to explain to workers and to clients how a programme for abuse survivors actually works. Simon is an experienced person-centred counsellor, who uses all the well-tried methods which have been successful in work with abuse survivors
I found this book very easy to read, it is relevant, understandable and useful. It puts into words the various feelings I had before, during and still do after group/individual counselling.
