Growing up as the son of a Guyanese and a British parent, questions of identity have informed much of Alex Beresford’s life. Alex has received much support for his sensitive handling of conversations around racism and mental health across his career, as well as heavy trolling online, and Alex has never been afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

In his first book, Alex explores the intersect between race, class and politics in the UK today, touching on a range of subjects: friendship, brotherhood, fatherhood, community, masculinity, mental health, knife crime, and the media. Part memoir, as Alex examines his own relationships and complicated sense of identity, with stories from his 20 year career in the media; part documentary, with Alex including interviewing experts and extraordinary people around the UK.
