Our programme takes 14 trainees through every step of the publishing industry, from pitch to distribution.
Designed to make publishing more accessible to under-represented groups as part of our vision for Changing the Story, we are actively seeking applications from candidates from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, applicants from lower socio-economic backgrounds to improve the representation of these groups in our workforce.
As a trainee, you spend an entire year within one of the trade divisions or our education business. You’ll specialise in either editorial, communications, marketing and publicity, rights, sales or consumer insight. Some of our trainees even spend time in Curtis Brown or Waterstones.
We will also be providing placements for experienced candidates looking to take a new step in their career. The aim is to welcome individuals who are looking for a career change or wish to return to work after a career break and aim to place them in mid-level roles.
Now in its seventh year, the focus for the programme this year will be on securing candidates in our Sheffield office, as part of our commitment to continue hiring creative talent beyond London and accelerate the diversification of our workforce and publishing.
Applications for our 2025 traineeship are now open. Applications close 13 October 2025.
