Virtual Author Events with Teri Terry

Looking for author events? Find out more about the virtual events author Teri Terry is offering below (from Teri Terry herself).

With schools closed and remote learning the new normal, sixteen schools took part in testing my virtual event in July. Offering increased flexibility and demonstrated student engagement at a fraction of the usual event cost, I’m happy to be going virtual!

My author talk and new workshop, Finding Your Story, are run on password protected pages on my website. Once booked, a link and password are supplied to a unique page set up for each event, and begin with a short video where I welcome the school or group by name. There is no need for student information like names or emails addresses to be provided, and no videoing of students.

Events consist of a series of short videos with things to discuss and do between. They start at just £50 (plus VAT).  Optional extras include comment box Q&A, pre-recorded video answering submitted questions, webinar Q&A run by the school, and signed books or bookplates.

Both classroom-based and remote learners can take part. In the classroom, the event can be projected by the teacher to a single screen and only requires sound and internet to do so; alternatively it can be run in an IT suite with students on individual computers. Home learners can take part on a PC, laptop, tablet or even their phone.

Testimonials from schools that have taken part in my virtual events can be found on my website. Several commented that students who may be less confident and disengaged during a live event were taking part in the virtual version.

I’ve also set up a Ko-fi page, where subscribers can have access to content not found elsewhere – things like snippets of works-in-progress, deleted scenes, plotting/planning, and access to a Q&A once a week. This is perhaps more suitable for individuals or book groups, and is £5 a month.
