The Wife

The doorbell rings, late Friday afternoon, as I’m getting ready for the weekend. I rush to answer it, finding a young woman on my doorstep who I don’t recognise.

I know something is wrong from the expression on her face. Then she opens her mouth and my whole world implodes.

‘Your husband and I have been having an affair. I’m pregnant with his child.’

I can’t believe he would do this to me. To our children. She must be lying.

I tell her to stay away from my family and slam the door shut.

But what if it’s true? I could lose everything I’ve worked so hard to build.

I look around the beautiful hallway in our spacious home, filled with happy memories.

I have to find out the truth and protect my family. No matter what it takes…
