Genre
Paris, 1925. A young woman has crossed an ocean to become a star.
Dorothea Walker has escaped the poverty and prejudice of St Louis, but she faces new challenges in the City of Light. Pushed to the back of the chorus line, she is almost invisible – until one daring performance launches her into the spotlight.
Over the next fifteen years, her fame hits dizzying heights, and she finds love and friendship in the city she now calls home. But beyond its glittering nightclubs, Europe is changing. And when war arrives in France, Dorothea discovers that her status gives her access to places others cannot reach.
Drawn into spying for the Resistance, she embarks on a dangerous mission, playing a double game in clubs, salons, and occupied cities. Now, Dorothea must give her greatest performance of all, but one false move could cost her – and the country she loves – everything.
ON STAGE SHE DAZZLES. BEHIND ENEMY LINES, SHE RISKS EVERYTHING FOR FREEDOM.
From the smoky nightclubs of Montmartre to the perilous underworld of wartime espionage, Song of Resistance is a sweeping tale of ambition, romance, survival – and one woman who refuses to be silenced.
