This book is both informative and thought-provoking in its content, style of writing, the factual information it presents and the conclusions it reaches. It gives a clear, comprehensive account of the development of research and legislation which has culminated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child... Will give valuable insights and information to a variety of agencies and experts involved in working with children - social services, specialists in children's law, all professionals involved in educating children and, most importantly, parents... Difficult "grey" areas are debated and clarified such as "what is a child?" and "what rights do children have?"... This is a book I shall purchase for the Staff Development Library and would encourage colleagues in Primary and Secondary education to read.
