An orphan in exile. A band of rebel girls. And a prince whose throne has been stolen. Come on a journey full of danger, intrigue, adventure and incredible secrets.

‘The Ateban Cipher,’ Lucien continued, ‘is also known as the Book of Answers.’
‘Answers to what?’ Eddie asked.
Lucien sighed. ‘Everything.

In the second gripping Ateban Cipher novel, Gabe and his companions journey to a remote mountain citadel where they learn the secret of the mysterious, encrypted book that Gabe has been tasked with protecting. But their enemies are close behind them, and new dangers lie ahead.

As Eddie seeks to regain his crown, and Merry and Gwyn race to free their father, Gabe will discover the answer to his own great mystery – his true identity.

With so many twists and turns throughout the plot and the connections to medieval times the reader will be kept on the edge of their seats.

Review - Fans of the Ranger's Apprentice series will love The Ateban Cipher! Book 2 jumps straight into the action and doesn't let up. It was a joy to rejoin Gabe and the other fantastic characters as they continue their quest to free Gwyn and Merry's father and to restore Prince Edward to his rightful place as heir to the throne. The Book of Answers both resolves plotlines begun in Book 1 and hints at new and exciting adventures to come.

Just So Stories
This is the kind of thrilling adventure that has readers turning the pages as fast as they can devour the story along the way discerning many important themes about trust, loyalty, ingenuity and courage. A. J. Tait's knack for creating these gripping and often tense exploits has been well demonstrated in her Mapmaker Chronicles series (as a reader said to me in the last week of school - "I just LOVE this series - it keeps you on the edge of your seat!") and now continues the success with this new series. Highly recommended for Upper Primary/Lower Secondary readers both boys and girls.
