Each year, from January to March, Hachette UK and our All Together Network run a placement for students on the Northumbria University MA in Publishing course in partnership with New Writing North. Each student is matched with a member of staff from across the business to learn about their role, route into publishing, and to get practical experience and insight into how the industry works.

Students attend a range of sessions, take part in research tasks related to their areas of interest and meet staff from across the business, culminating in a trip to our London office where they get to tour the building and meet the key contact they have been working with.

The placement provides invaluable insight into the industry and helps students to put into practice the material they learn in the course. We have several former students of the placement working in roles across Hachette UK, and continue to recruit new key contacts from across our divisions.
