Publishing Support Assistant, Octopus

The role allows the candidate to work within all aspects of the publishing process, liaising with editorial, production, design and finance.

Who we are and what we do

Octopus Publishing Group is an award-winning, non-fiction publisher producing titles on a wide range of subjects including food and wine, health and wellbeing, gardening and popular science.

The group comprises of several imprints including Conran Octopus, Hamlyn, Mitchell Beazley, Aster, Philip’s, Spruce, Ilex, Miller’s, Cassell, Kyle Books, Summersdale, Pyramid, Endeavour and Monoray who all seek to produce the very best books in non-fiction publishing.

What you’ll be doing

You will be required to work closely with the Head of Operations, and the publishing team to provide operational support and to ensure the smooth running of the publishing and bibliographic processes. Key tasks will include maintaining internal systems, ensuring data integrity throughout, and have accountability for the critical path and publishing schedule to ensure timely in-house liaison.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to assist the Operations team, and to offer administrative support. Candidates should be organised and methodical, with good communication and numerical skills as well as proven attention to detail. Candidates would need to be computer literate in Excel and PowerPoint, and experience of Biblio and Vista systems would be an advantage but is not essential.

Salary: £23,000 per annum pro rata
