Senior Data Analyst

Hachette UK is a leading UK publishing group. The group is made up of ten autonomous publishing divisions and over fifty imprints with a rich and diverse history. The newly created digital and online sales team works across our trade publishers, Headline, Hodder & Stoughton, John Murray Press, Quercus, Bookouture, Little, Brown, Orion, Hachette Children’s Group and Octopus, covering sales across all formats to digital and online customers.
What you will be doing
We are looking to appoint a skilled analyst with a proven ability to improve efficiency and solve problems when dealing with multiple sources of data.
You will have the ability to work with non-technical colleagues to share results and influence future strategy for the benefit of the business and be eager to have a direct impact on the performance of one of the UK’s largest publishing groups.
In this role you will work with the digital and online team to review our current processes, advise on and improve the way in which we use and interpret numerous diverse data sources, and maximise the commercial potential for our business. Implementing new approaches to the use of available data, observations and findings will be shared across the business to influence future decisions, to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will:
- Review current data sources and determine opportunities to increase revenue
- Analyse current level of pricing and sales across titles, authors and genres
- Implement new approaches to use of available data
- Work with team to provide regular feedback across companies and imprints
- Co-ordinate ebook experimentation with and manage Pricing Analyst to maximise return
- Manage, educate and introduce use of key tools
- Potentially implement use of SQL/R/Python to improve interpretation and suggest future strategy
The ideal candidate would have 5+ years experience as a research analyst and an education in a highly quantitative subject (ie maths, science, engineering). Advanced knowledge of data visualisation interfaces such as Tableau or similar is essential, as is an interest in business analytics, and knowledge of Python and/or R is preferable. It would also be helpful if your background contains experience working with statistical modelling.

Salary Range: £45,000 depending on experience
