The Proof in the Pudding

Krystyna Green, publishing director at Constable, writes:

Yesterday was publication day of national treasure Rosemary Shrager’s second novel, The Proof in the Pudding, featuring retired celebrity chef Prudence Bulstrode… a character who seems very much like Rosemary, if truth be told!  After her first outing at a manor house in the Cotswolds, Prudence has now travelled further north, to Yorkshire, where it is midwinter and the snow is deep and crisp and even… and in the little village of Scrufton Busk, murder is definitely on the menu. While Prudence relishes the challenge of cooking a midwinter feast for all the residents of the village, outside on the village green the snowman is revealed to be more than realistic…  But who would want to kill local vagabond Terry Chandler, and then entomb his body in the snow?

Crime and cookery continue to collide as Prudence and her sous chef, granddaughter Suki, get drawn into yet another baffling mystery – with a good side order of stews, chili and figgy pudding thrown into the mix!
