This is one of my favourite videos ever. Writers are so needy and insecure that we are terrified of saying no. I watch it every time someone asks me to write a short story or something else for nothing when they are getting paid themselves. The worst offenders are for “charity” books where the publisher is actually making a profit. I was once told by a publisher who wanted me to write a 5k word short story for free that the project wouldn’t work unless the publisher had a commercial interest. So I gave the money to the charity instead.
