How to obtain permission to use material from our books

Thank you for your interest in Hachette UK. If you wish to use material from one of our publications please apply in writing.

It is essential that you provide as much information as possible in order that we may process your application within the timeframe indicated below. Please ensure that your permission is specific to the use you actually require, as we reserve the right to charge a separate fee for each format for which you indicate permission is required.

Permission fees will be evaluated on an individual basis and permission will be granted subject to a licence generated by us.  We do not accept any third party forms.

Once you are in a position to give us the above information, we aim to respond within six weeks. Whilst we endeavour to respond as quickly as possible, the length of time will vary depending on the complexity of the request and the ease with which we are able to trace records. Please therefore apply in good time and with as much information about the material you wish to use as possible. We will then be able to assess whether or not permission will be granted and the appropriate terms.

If you would like to photocopy material from our titles, for classroom use in schools and colleges, in the first instance please contact The Copyright Licensing Agency Ltd, Saffron House, 6-10 Kirby Street, London, EC1N 8TS UK.
