Reporting to the Director of Accounting Services and supervising a team of three the Group Payroll Manager is an integral part of the Group Finance management team based in Abingdon, and significantly contributes to the successful performance of the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the continued success of the Group Payroll department within the Hachette UK Group, delivering timely, accurate payrolls in a professional, and customer service orientated environment.

The Group Payroll Manager will take full responsibility for every aspect of the processing of eight payrolls (c1700 staff), including four overseas (Hong Kong, Singapore, Caribbean & Dubai bureaux). You will pro-actively identify, manage and ensure compliance for all PAYE and NIC related processes, e.g. P11D, PSA, and Share Schemes for the Hachette Group. The role will also include taking the lead on all ad-hoc Payroll related projects e.g. software implementation, managing the payroll aspects of acquisitions, sourcing overseas payroll providers, HMRC Audit and introduction of an integrated T&A solution.

The successful candidate will be CIPP qualified and be highly skilled in all technical and legislative aspects of Payroll ideally gained within a multi-site and remote environment. You will demonstrate considerable exposure to administering modern payroll software systems and implementing financial and business controls in a changing environment. Experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in the provision of technical advice to HR, Finance and individual employees is essential along with experience of delivering continuous process improvements.
