Orion Fiction is looking for a Digital Editor to launch and manage a commercial fiction digital-only list. Reporting to the Publishing Director you will be responsible for launching and shaping a digital-only publishing list, acquiring strategically and commercially. You will have experience of commissioning and publishing commercial fiction, and will have a strong knowledge of digital publishing. You will be happy working quickly and proactively and will be able to drive the publishing of the list, with the aim of delivering digital bestsellers.
You will acquire across the commercial fiction genres, focussing on psychological suspense, women’s fiction, crime and thrillers, and will be able to discover new talent and develop great ideas with authors. You will liaise with Sales, Marketing and Publicity and you will be responsible for all elements of the publishing from acquisition, editing, cover briefing, copy writing and metadata.
The ideal candidate will have two years’ commercial fiction commissioning experience and be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and deliver highly commercial project proposals. They should have a solid and detailed knowledge of the digital market, including best practice in metadata and experience in editing fiction and managing the publishing process. They should be confident in managing their workload and be a proactive self-starter, able to work quickly and decisively, taking decisions and putting them into action.
