Andrew Miller's 'Pure' wins 2012 Costa Book Award25/01/2012
Andrew Miller's Pure was awarded the Costa Book Prize last night at the awards ceremony at Quaglino's restaurant in Piccadilly, where Costa also announced a new short story prize for 2012. Miller's sixth novel, published by Sceptre, won him £30,000 and apparently sparked some debate amongst the judges of the prize, who included comedian Hugh Dennis and authors William Fiennes, Patrick Gale and Eleanor Updale. The chairman of the judges was Geordie Grieg, editor of the Evening Standard, who described Pure as "a rich and brilliant historical novel of death and superstition."
