Getting Published
Manuscript submissions
Each of our trade publishers has its own guidelines for manuscript submissions.
Hodder & Stoughton, Orion Publishing Group, and Hachette Children’s Books unfortunately cannot accept unsolicited manuscripts. If you are seeking publication, it is recommended you appoint an agent to represent you.
Little, Brown Book Group only accepts submissions sent to us via an agent. We do not accept any unsolicited material. The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook (published by A & C Black) and The Writer's Handbook (published by Macmillan) contain the addresses of all UK literary agents. You can also find UK Agents' contact details on the Writersservices.com website, as provided by The Writer's Handbook. Little, Brown Book Group accepts no responsibility for proposals sent to us. For more information on Little, Brown’s submission guidelines, please visit the Little, Brown website at www.littlebrown.co.uk.
Headline Publishing Group recommends that submissions be sent via an agent, but does consider unsolicited material. To submit a proposal please send a letter outlining the work to: Submissions Editor, Editorial Department, Headline Publishing Group, 338 Euston Road, London NW1 3BH. For more detailed submission guidelines please visit the Headline Publishing Group website at www.headline.co.uk.
You can obtain a list of agents through the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook (published by A & C Black) and The Writer's Handbook (published by Macmillan). Alternatively you can search for literary agents on the Internet.
We regret that we aren't able to recommend a specific agent, but we hope you are successful in finding a suitable publisher for your manuscript and we thank you for thinking of Hachette UK.
